Fusing Traditional Knowledge with Upstart Processes.

We ARE Advanced Materials

Advanced Materials are physical elements specifically engineered to exhibit novel or enriched properties that offer superior performance as compared to traditional materials. An “advanced material” is generally defined as any uniquely developed or significantly improved substance that provides a distinct advantage in performance when compared to conventional materials.

Developments in material sciences have yielded exciting new materials that have accelerated the thrilling growth of pioneering new technologies. Refractory ceramics, the material closest to our hearts at Sigma Advanced Materials, are particularly exciting materials that thrive in very high temperature situations. They can be extruded, machined, or 3D printed into endless sizes, shaped, and geometries.

Metallized coatings, such as Thick Film Metallization, can be applied to enhance their usability. Metal pins or similar components can also be joined to further enhance their utilization. The resulting properties yield robust strength, heat tolerance, and hermeticity that can be leveraged in critical operations. Their uses are myriad, from lining orbital spacecrafts, protecting jet engines during flight, and thermal insulation for lasers, to drawing heat out of your cell phone, or holding heat in an e-smoking device.

New polymers, enhanced-property metals, and unique processes for working with materials promise to propel their uses to new heights. Sigma Advanced Materials’ labs never stop exploring this new frontier.

Sigma Advanced Materials’ approach is designed to meet you where you are in your product's life cycle. Whether you're in initial design phases, developing tested designs, or are already manufacturing an existing product, you'll benefit from our industry and engineering experts, state-of-the-art equipment, and a meticulous approach to planning your project.

Our goal is to help you optimize your design. We specialize in re-imagining processes to deliver superior products that take your product from working to working better.

We specialize in Manufacturing Process Design for advanced material-based products. Through Manufacturing Process Design (MPD) practices, we seek to optimize the process for delivering a part to complete it better, stronger, cheaper, faster.  Our engineering team reviews such areas as materials, geometry, dimensioning, and tolerances. By considering your design thoughtfully at the quoting review stage, Sigma Advanced can offer ideas and recommendations that will help you avoid costly mistakes and improve even older legacy parts. The best solution is often found through simplicity and good, old-fashioned experience.
